About: Yellowcash is a Brazilian fintech targeting international students from Brazil and Ecuador who migrate to Argentina for their university studies.
My Role: Product Designer, Product Strategy
Problem: The challenge faced by international students migrating to Argentina is that they cannot open bank accounts or digital bank accounts until they obtain their first Argentine ID (DNI). This particularly complicates the receipt of money sent by their parents monthly to cover their living expenses, tuition, and rent. Students are forced to use traditional remittance systems with high transaction fees.
Solution: Yellowcash allows relatives of these students to deposit money on the platform using various methods such as boletos or Pix and then facilitates different withdrawal methods for students, including transfers, cash withdrawal at participating points, or delivery.
Reflection: Yellowcash is a straightforward financial solution aimed at a very specific market niche and aims to solve the problem of facilitating low-cost international transfers. The main challenge Yellowcash has encountered is how to provide an easy and simple experience for users to withdraw or spend the money. Initially, the possibility of adding a credit or debit card was considered but was initially discarded for the first MVP due to issuance costs and the requirement for students to have an Argentine ID to issue a card in Argentina.
