About:
Baia is a decentralized platform designed to provide fast, transparent, and direct financial aid to individuals affected by climate disasters. Built during the Aleph Hackathon, Baia combines AI, blockchain, and World ID human verification to ensure that donations reach real people with real needs—without intermediaries.
My Role:
Ideator & Product Designer
Problem:
Every year, millions of people lose their homes due to climate disasters, yet trust in traditional aid organizations has declined significantly. Victims often face delays and inefficiencies in receiving help. At the same time, donors lack visibility and assurance about where their contributions are going.
Solution:
Baia introduces a new way to connect those in need with those willing to help—using technology to ensure speed, transparency, and accountability.
- AI-Powered Loss Assessment:
Users upload photos of their losses. An AI model estimates the material damage using real-time market data (e.g., from Mercado Libre), creating clear and reliable funding goals. - World ID Verification:
Both aid seekers and validators must prove their personhood via Worldcoin’s World ID, preventing bots or duplicate claims. - Community-Validated Requests:
Verified users can support and validate aid requests, enhancing the legitimacy of each case and building trust. - Direct Crypto Donations:
Donors can send WLD directly to verified users, enabling real-time support with no intermediaries or overhead.
Reflection:
Designing and pitching Baia was an exciting challenge. I led the product vision and UX design while collaborating remotely with a talented backend (Emanuel Guzmán) and frontend developer (Lautaro Spiazzi). Presenting from Salta and winning Second Prize in the World Track felt like proof that impactful, human-centered solutions can emerge from anywhere. Baia is just the beginning of what’s possible when we combine AI, Web3, and empathy.
